Patna Film Festival

Patna Film Festival is of international repute. Countries like India, Iran, USA, Canada, Japan, China, Germany, Sweden and Russia are the participant of international film festival. Three such festivals were organized in Patna. This film festival was organized jointly by National Film Development Corporation, Union ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Directorate of Film Festival, Federation of Film Societies of India, National Film Archive of India and the state government.

1st Patna Film Festival


It was organized in the year 2006 at Mona Cinema Hall located in Patna. Some of the renowned people of the industry attended the film festival – Sushir Mishra, Shekhar Kapoor, Aziz Mirza, Shekhar Suman, Shatrughahn Sinha, Prakash Jha, Manoj Bajpai. During the festival, a total number of 24 films were screened. The films were from India, Iran, China and Canada. Some indigenous films (Bengali, Marati and Malayalam language) were also screened. The inaugural film in the festival was 'Hazaaron Khawaishein Aisi'.

2nd Patna Film Festival


It took place in 2007 at Patna. French, Italian, German, Japanese and Swedish language movies were screened in this festival.

3rd Patna Film Festival


Patna Film Festival was organized for the third time in the year 2008 at Regent Theater, 'Patna. Taare Zameen' Par, a movie directed by Aamir Khan, was the inaugural film in the festival that held for the third time. Other Indian language films of Bhojpuri, Marathi, Kannada and Telugu language were screened as well. Japanese, American, German, Swedish and Russian films were a part of the festival.
