Bihar Veterinary College was founded in 1927 by Sir Henry Wheeler, the then Governor of Bihar and Orissa. It is the fifth oldest Veterinary College in India. It also provides highly developed Veterinary clinical services to the society. Post Independence, Bihar Veterinary College was developed to function in full capacity and was associated with strong  foundation of teaching and research in the field of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and also advanced Veterinary clinical services to the society. This institution acquired world-wide recognition for  teaching by qualified and committed faculty members, services to the farmers, organized livestock farms and other facilities like research stations. Bihar Veterinary College , Patna became one of the pioneer constituent colleges of Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar in 1971.
